Bioinformatics Development Student Intern

The Organization:

The Morgridge Institute for Research is a private, nonprofit research institute dedicated to improving human health through interdisciplinary biomedical research, in partnership with the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Research areas include regenerative biology, medical engineering, core computation, virology, metabolism, and virology.

The Opportunity:

A position is available in the Thomson Lab in Regenerative Biology, helping to develop a bioinformatics platform automating the analysis of RNA-Seq data. This position will be active in all stages of development, including requirements gathering, testing, and coding. The hired candidate will be lead on a project using the platform to produce original research.


The ideal candidate will be fluent in Python, have a strong interest in scientific computing and agile development, and demonstrate outstanding teamwork and communication skills. Other languages, git, algorithms, and data programming are all of interest.

We are looking for a candidate who is available to work approximately 10-12 hours per week with availability Monday through Friday between 8 am and 5pm. The hourly rate will be $12-$15 depending on experience.
