As an independent research organization, the Morgridge Institute for Research explores uncharted scientific territory to discover tomorrow’s cures. In affiliation with the University of Wisconsin-Madison, we support researchers who take a fearless approach to advancing human health in emerging fields such as regenerative biology, metabolism, virology and medical engineering. Through public programming, we work to inspire scientific curiosity in everyday life.
The Engagement Programs Manager leads annual and long term programs, projects, and events to help achieve the institute’s engagement goals. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the manager plays a key new role in advancement activity for the institute and works closely with Morgridge leadership, investigators and staff. The Morgridge Institute is an organization committed to serving society through our efforts to improve human health, spark scientific discovery and embrace public engagement programs that make an impact well beyond our walls. The manager will work with audiences that include donors, prospective donors, institute alumni, and those in key regions with an interest in biomedical science and the Morgridge mission.
- Plan and implement 6-8 engagement events annually in the Madison, WI region in partnership with development and institute personnel. These will range from broad public events to targeted donor and prospective interactions including Partners in Science and other donor recognition and cultivation opportunities.
- Establish a Morgridge alumni program in order to create a valued lifetime connection to Morgridge researchers and personnel, and provide platforms for them to remain connected with each other.
- Develop, execute, and grow a regional engagement event strategy that results in increased awareness of the Morgridge mission, impact, and activities in targeted regions including Milwaukee, Chicago, Fox Valley, and Silicon Valley. The goal is at least 6-8 total events annually across all target regions.
- Develop and maintain key partnerships with external organizations that will enable the institute to realize it’s regional engagement goals.
- Coordinate and direct existing Morgridge Institute engagement programs including the Kids Science Council. Work with institute leadership and colleagues to develop new programs that establish and strengthen affinity to the institute.
- Assist in conception and delivery of institutional advancement strategies, programs, goals, processes, and policies.
- Stay informed of current institute research and activities.
- Other miscellaneous duties as required.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred
- Three to five years of previous experience with successful engagement or fundraising program coordination, development event planning, donor recognition, or other closely related experience.
- Experience with development programs related to biomedical, scientific, or technological institutions preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Demonstrated skills as a project manager with a preference for fundraising or engagement-focused project management experience.
- Advanced program or event planning skills with high attention to detail. Excellent organization, execution, and evaluation skills in order to meet goals are essential.
- Strategic skills to craft and implement engagement programs and events.
- Ability to effectively communicate with external contacts including university leaders, scientists, and community members
- Ability to demonstrate high level of creativity and to solve problems effectively
- Ability to prioritize and plan multiple projects accordingly
