The Organization:

The Morgridge Institute for Research is a private, nonprofit research institute dedicated to improving human health through interdisciplinary biomedical research, in partnership with the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The Opportunity:

The Morgridge Institute is looking to hire a Graphic Design Student Assistant to start immediately and continue through the summer and into subsequent semesters. This position will provide support to the Pagliarini Lab within the Metabolism Theme at Morgridge Institute for Research. The Morgridge Institute for Research is located in the Discovery building on the UW-Madison campus at 330 North Orchard Street and is easily accessible by bus.

We are seeking an individual who is detail-oriented, demonstrates the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively, and is able to multitask and work well under deadlines. This position will be responsible for a variety of tasks including generating publication-quality data figures for manuscripts and grant proposals, creating scientific posters for meetings, assisting with journal cover art design, and creating professional slides for scientific presentations. Student positons offer flexible schedules, an opportunity to gain great work experience, and the ability to network and collaborate with Morgridge Institute staff.

We are seeking a student who can commit on average 8-20 hours per week and has availability during the workweek (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.). Depending on the workload, there may be opportunities to work more hours, up to 40 hours per week, over breaks and summer. Morgridge Institute does not provide parking for student interns, but bus passes are available.

Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will be working toward an associate or bachelor’s degree. Candidates must be detail-oriented, demonstrate the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively and they must be able to multitask and work under deadlines. Extensive prior experience working with Adobe Illustrator is required and with other Adobe programs such as Photoshop is preferred.
