I am from Ohio, where I received my B.S. in Biomedical Sciences before moving on to the University of Wisconsin-Madison to earn my M.S. in Bacteriology. My research path began in developmental biology of chicken embryos and psychology, but I soon migrated into bacteriology with an emphasis on molecular biology. Now I have pivoted to flies, studying how metabolic requirements change at different steps of development in the ovary. Outside the lab, I enjoy writing novels and playing soccer.
