Jonathan Stefely, M.D., Ph.D. is an incoming metabolism investigator at the Morgridge Institute for Research, and an assistant professor in the Department of Biomolecular Chemistry at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Jon graduated with a degree in chemistry from the University of Notre Dame, where he conducted research in synthetic organic medicinal chemistry with Prof. Marvin Miller. His doctoral thesis work at UW–Madison in the Department of Biochemistry was completed under the mentorship of Prof. Dave Pagliarini. After graduating from UW–Madison with his M.D./Ph.D, he completed his clinical residency at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). His specialty training in transfusion medicine was completed at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He then conducted postdoctoral research at MGH under the mentorship of Prof. Vamsi Mootha and Prof. John Samuelson before joining the Morgridge Institute and UW–Madison as a faculty member. Jon is also a practicing clinician in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at UW Hospital. Outside the lab, Jon enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife, Erin, and their three children.
