Born in Colombia, my career began as a biologist specializing in entomology. Later, when I joined the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine, my research expanded to focus on vaccines for tropical and emerging infectious diseases, such as Zika, Dengue, Yellow Fever, Plague, Nipah, Rabies, Monkeypox, and SARS-CoV-2. I gained valuable experience with both in vivo and in vitro experiments, while ensuring compliance with biosafety and IACUC protocols in BSL-2 and BSL-3 environments.
With over a decade of research experience, primarily in vaccine development and virology, I joined the Morgridge Institute for Research as Senior Lab Manager for Dr. Spurgeon’s lab. In this role, I manage animal colonies and support studies related to the pathogenesis of human tumor viruses and their roles in human cancers. I am committed to learning every day, discovering new insights, and contributing to the advancement of science in this field.
At work, I value collaboration and strive to create an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives drive innovation. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, a good cup of coffee and engaging in activities such as photography, fishing and exploring the outdoors. These interests help me maintain a balanced and creative approach to my professional life.
