Thomas Westrick, a Milwaukee-based veteran executive who most recently led GE Healthcare’s Patient Care Solutions segment, has been elected to the Morgridge Institute for Research Board of Trustees.
As President and CEO of Patient Care Solutions (PCS) from 2020-2025, Westrick led a global operation with more than $3 billion in sales. PCS has strong brand recognition and one of the leading providers of a wide range of medical technologies, including devices for anesthesia, patient monitoring, EKG, and infant care.
Westrick will join the 18-member Morgridge Board of Trustees in fall 2026. The board oversees operations and supports the Morgridge mission to conduct basic research in important frontiers of biomedicine, including virology, metabolism, regenerative biology and biomedical imaging. Morgridge is a private, nonprofit institute closely affiliated with the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
As an alumnus of UW–Madison, Westrick has remained involved with the university and from 2018-2024 served on the board of Advisors of the UW–Madison School of Business. He says he’s enthusiastic about joining an organization made possible by UW–Madison alums John and Tashia Morgridge, who have made a profound impact not only on the university but the entire state of Wisconsin through their philanthropy.
“The biggest appeal starts with our shared interest in healthcare research and the vison of ‘fearless science’ that Morgridge follows,” Westrick says. “This kind of pure front-end research is really needed and can lead to a wealth of opportunities to improve the quality of healthcare for all.”
“I’m looking forward to helping Morgridge wherever necessary,” he adds. “I think that fearless commitment to research needs to be maintained. I can also help serve as a bridge to ultimate market adoption and help guide the team with real-world experience.”
While at GE Healthcare, Westrick led the company’s COVID-19 response by rapidly scaling ventilator production for the U.S. government. He also served as GE Healthcare Vice President, Chief Quality Officer and Head of Regulatory Affairs from 2016-2020; and as Vice President, Global Controller and Chief Risk Officer from 2003-2016. Prior to GE, Westrick served for more than a decade as audit senior manager with Arthur Andersen and Deloitte & Touche.
